Red Wine Syrup For Fresh Fruit

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 C. dry red wine
  • 1/2 H2O
  • 3/4 C. + 2 T. sugar
  • 6 strips orange peel (6 strips 1/2" x 3")
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 8 allspice berries
  • 6 cloves

Instructions

Step 1
Combine wine, H2O, & sugar in saucepan. Cover. Heat med 5-6 min.
Step 2
'til sugar dissolves
Step 3
Add o. peel & spices.
Step 4
Bring to boil & boil 3 min.
Step 5
Reduce heat - simmer rapidly 6-7 min. until reduced to 1 1/2 C.
Step 6
Strain, cool, cover.
Step 7
Refrigerate 3 hr - 2 days.
